red squirrel logoAnglesey Coastal PathThis is a red squirrel conservation website which provides information on red and grey squirrel management on the island of Anglesey. Red squirrels are now one of the most endangered species in the UK, and Anglesey contains one of the key national populations. Local action has led to the successful conservation of the remnant red squirrel population, and following systematic grey squirrel control, red squirrels are now being reintroduced to other sites on the island. It is hoped that Anglesey will be a haven for the red squirrel and that grey squirrels will eventually be eradicated. The Friends of the Anglesey Red Squirrels is a community group set up to support the scientific work being carried out by Menter Môn and the Anglesey Red Squirrel Project. The project helps deliver local and national BAP targets for red squirrel conservation and is a unique success story in the UK.
