'Rosie' the white squirrel
During the late summer of 2004 we heard about a partial albino red squirrel that was available from a Zoo in Kent.
Because of her unusual colour we jumped at the opportunity to offer her a new home and she is now part of the captive breeding program. Two males have been put in with her, one a very dark colour morph and the other a rich chestnut colour.
Albino red squirrels are rare in the wild because they are easily spotted by predators and thus have a lower survival rate relative to other individuals.
Sadly in March 2006 Rosie died, she had reached the ripe old age of 6 years.
